David Zabriskie, biking for Garmin-Chipotle, has won the U.S. Pro Time Trial Championship held in Greenville, SC on August 30th. His winning margin was 5 seconds over second place Tom Zirbel. Team Garmin-Chipotle put on a dominating show of time trialing power by taking four of the top five spots. The course was 20.7 miles in length and consisted of 3 laps. The time trial layout was described as technical and with enough climbing to keep the racers regularly changing gears. Just 34 riders entered the time trial championship, as many bikers wanted to conserve energy for the next day's road race. Zabriskie is now back in top form after having sustained a neck injury during a nasty wreck at the Giro d'Italia. Prior to this race, he had placed 12th at the Olympic time trial race in Beijing. The top ten standings are: 1. David Zabriskie, Garmin/chipotle P/b H3o in 40:39 2. Tom Zirbel, Bissell Pro Cycling Team in 40:44 3. Christian Vandevelde, Garmin/chipotle P/b H3o in 40:49 at 10 4.
