The IsoTruss Ascend Frame - See Through Bike

They say a picture is worth a thousand words - so, behold the IsoTruss Ascend frame:

The IsoTruss Ascend Frame - See Through Bike

What you see - or don't see, as the case may be! - is carbon fiber threads wound into shape and then solidified with Kevlar. The "tube" ends are connected with carbon fiber lugs.

The IsoTruss Ascend weighs in at 1.8 lbs. According to wind tunnel tests, it does in fact beat out cylindrically tubed bikes, if only by about 3% of air drag. The lattice design seems to accomplish what it has been designed to do: maintain frame stiffness while reducing the ever-present aerodynamic loss brought on by wind resistance.

Want one? So do we. Shell out $5,995 for the frame, and then build up the IsoTruss to your specs.

To learn more, visit the IsoTruss web site and see the carbon fiber lattice design up close.
