Marie-Helene Premont of Chateau-Richer, Quebec, won the bronze medal in the season finale in World Cup mountain biking Sunday. Her point total was enough to earn her the crown as overall champion for 2008. Catharine Pendrel of Kamloops, B.C., was second in the season standings.

Premont had top 3 finishes at the first seven races in the nine-race series with two gold, three silver and two bronze. With such a strong start to the mountain biking circuit, Premont was a heavy favorite to win the 2008 title.

Julien Absalon of France, a five-time race winner in the 2008 campaign, was first overall in the men's mountain biking division.
