For many years I have been making the annual pilgrimage to one of America's holy sites for cyclists - Interbike. From its early days in Long Beach to the days of Disney to its current location in Las Vegas, I have made this trek to learn what is happening in the world of cycling. After so many years, my visits to Vegas are now as much about seeing the new bike products soon to hit the market as it is to learning about all things cycling and meeting with new and old friends and colleagues. While Interbike is primarily about bike products new to the industry, it is also a celebration of biking. It is not unusual to see a startling new team bike design, concept projects, and some things that are just plain fun. Here are some highlights of my first day.
Pro bikes are always in attendance like Valverde's Pinarello:
As are new frame designs Like Blue's new wind tunnel designed Triad:
Don't like your current Aero bottle? You may want to go for Visions new offering:
Maybe your tastes go the exotic - then the Calfee Cow bike might please you.
Nothing like a big set of "steer"ing bars to say, "moo"ve over!
Well, I'm off to test Shimano's end to cable shifting - electronic shifters - and then run by Campagnolo and see why I need 22 speeds. After that, I am off to a brutal day of deconstructing frame designs, aero profiles, taking pictures, and collecting stickers. More from the show tomorrow.
