Cervelo has announced the arrival of the new P4 Time Trial bike, suited both for road time trial races and for triathlon. As pictured below, it resembles the P3 with the cutout for the rear wheel, sculpted downtube, and other aerodynamic features. There is a more aero foil shape to the tubes, though, and the fork has been reworked so as to cut through the wind better. It has a front wheel cutout, a feature Cervelo bikes have had since its invention in 1995. According to wind tunnel test results, it is the fastest bike ever - so claims Cervelo - even when comparing UCI-legal and illegal bikes. One interesting feature for triathletes is the addition of a hydration system - the P4 bottle - which nestles in the juncture of the downtube and seat tube. Here also, a battery as would be needed for electronic shifting systems can be stored.
