A Dog In A Hat

Joe Parkin decided to give pro biking a go in the late 1980's after meeting Bob Roll, the perennial commentator for the Tour de France in the United States. At the time, Parkin was a talented amateur rider, while Roll was on the 7-Eleven pro team. So Parkin took off for Europe and embarked on his career as a professional rider.

For those of us that have ever dreamed about what it would be like to pursue a pro biking career, "A Dog In A Hat" is a fun, insightful look into what it would take. Parkin conveys a unique perspective on pro biking in Europe, an insiders look, and his story is told in the mindset and the language that most road cycling enthusiasts will enjoy reading.

Available on Velogear.
