It is very close to being as light as XT, XTR, or Race Face Next LP cranks and they are a fraction of the cost. The chainline does not seem to be keeping things from opperating propperly. They wouldn't recommend this crankset for the longhaul but for a rider on a budget it'll get you by. They will turn but are too close to the seat tube on the Specialized for the derailleur to work. These cranks hold up well under xc racing conditions for me. '98 softride frame, SID SL fork, Fox float vanilla rear shock, Bontrager select rims, LX crank and cassette, XT/XTR derailers, Bontrager crowbar steering, Titec stem and seatpost, Deore shifting and braking, Geax Beaumont specific tires.
