When the chain is assembled, the outer side plates hide the ends of the bushings. When the chain is threaded over the front and back gears, place the two ends together in the link removal tool. As for repeated chain breaks, it shouldnt be a problem Ill do a video on this soon!. You need a little excess length in the chain to facilitate shifting, so add two links minimum, maybe three if your Derailer spring is really stiff. Kerosene is recommended because although it is flammable (be careful), it is not explosive like gasoline.
