My +$5 Swim

My friend Manny called me for a late afternoon ocean swim today. I was just heading to the pool, so sure, why not! I rode over to the beach, locked up my bike, and got in the water. He showed up a few minutes later, and the sun was setting fast. We got in 1,200 yards doing 2 triangular loops out to the white buoys in the 72 degree water – brrr! But it actually felt pretty good. On the first loop, about 80 yards out from shore, I looked down and saw a $5 bill floating at the bottom of the ocean! I dove down about 10 feet, grabbed it, and made my way back to the surface. I stuffed it in my swim jammers and kept going. I thought I’d lost it when the swim was over, but it fell out as I showered. A diver close by said, “Now that’s what I call pulling money out of your ass!” If only it were that easy! So I ended up +$5 on today’s swim.
